Bentek Announces Expansion of Manufacturing Facilities in San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA ―  November 2015

Growing PV solar manufacturer signs lease for an additional 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space in San Jose’s Monterey Corridor

San Jose, Calif. – Bentek President and CEO Mitch Schoch was joined by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo to announce that Bentek, an industry leader in engineered electromechanical and power distribution solutions, will be expanding its manufacturing facilities in San Jose, reflecting a growing resurgence of manufacturing in San Jose.

Bentek has signed a lease for an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space at 1991 Senter Road. The additional space will allow the company to continue its growth of AC and DC power products and services for the PV solar and semiconductor industries. The company has grown from 100 to 240 employees over the past three years and plans to continue to increase staffing levels to meet customer needs as it expands its presence in San Jose.

Bentek is a homegrown San Jose company that was founded in 1985 headquartered in San Jose.

“Bentek is committed to manufacturing our cutting-edge products here in America,” said Mitch Schoch, President and CEO of Bentek. “Keeping our manufacturing operations in San Jose ensures that we can easily collaborate with our customer’s engineering, research and design teams and leverage the highly skilled workforce found in San Jose. The Monterey Corridor in Central San Jose provides the ideal location for the expansion of our company.

“I thank Bentek for its choosing to expand its manufacturing presence in San Jose, and look forward to supporting its continued growth in the years ahead,” said Mayor Sam Liccardo. “Retaining and expanding manufacturing operations is a key priority of our economic development strategy to create more middle-income jobs for our residents. That’s why I’m committed to helping growing companies locate their manufacturing facilities here in San Jose and preserving critical industrial areas like the Monterey Corridor for manufacturing purposes.

In August, Mayor Liccardo launched his manufacturing initiative, “Built in San José,” in order to preserve and grow San Jose’s established manufacturing base and to expand access to middle income jobs for our residents. Through this initiative, the City of San Jose is committed to: expediting the permitting process, reducing fees for retrofitting manufacturing buildings, collaborating with workforce training organizations to create a pipeline of eligible workers, and partnering with local energy companies reduce energy costs respectively.
